Daniel A. Angeloni, 87 of West Deer Township, journeyed peacefully into the arms of our Lord, Monday July 17, 2017 with his family by his side. He was born April 27, 1930 in Butler to the late Daniele and Adalgisa (Nanni) Angeloni. Dan grew up in West Deer graduating from West Deer High School in 1948. He has spent all of his life in West Deer. He was an honors graduate of Grove City College. Dan served his country in the Army during the Korean War as a combat photo journalist. Throughout the years, he worked as a writer and editor of more than thirty-five different publications, newspapers and newsletters. He returned to West Deer School district as a teacher, later serving as a guidance counselor for West Deer and the newly merged Deer Lakes School District. Serving thirty-seven years he always put the needs of the student first. His photography continued as a professional photographer, whose photographs captured wedding memories of a large majority of the couples in the West Deer and surrounded area.
Survivors include his daughter Patricia D. (Paul) Palermo of Marshall Township and his grandchildren Anthony P. Palermo, Joseph D. Palermo and Lia M. Palermo, also his companion Stella Tantlinger of Tarentum.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by the love of his life, whom he was married to for over 49 years, Mabel R. (Mallory) Angeloni and his brother Alfred V. Angeloni.
Family will receive friends Thursday from 6-8 PM and Friday from 2-4 PM & 6-8 PM in the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer where parting prayers will be conducted on Saturday 9:30 AM, funeral mass will follow at 10 AM in Transfiguration R.C. Church with the Rev. James P. Holland, officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his wife in Lakewood Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Indiana Township. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to the West Deer Alumni Scholarship Fund, 11 Ideal Drive, Cheswick, PA 15024.
