George E. Hamilton, Sr.

George E. Hamilton, Sr., 90, of West Deer Township, died January 4, 2017 at his residence with his family by his side. He was born May 12, 1926 in Pittsburgh to the late Francis E. and Sarah (Lucas) Hamilton. George was a 1944 graduate of Hampton High School. He served his country in the US Navy during WWII in the South Pacific and China. George married the love of his life Margaret “Peg” A. McGarry in 1954. They moved to West Deer and raised their family. He worked as a truck driver for Westinghouse Corporate Trucking for many years where he was a member of the Teamsters Local 30, serving as the Union Stewart. He was also a member St. Victor R.C. Church, Bairdford, West Deer where he was an active volunteer and Usher.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years Margaret “Peg” A. (McGarry) Hamilton, children Mary Ellen (Fred) Vornbrock, Margaret “Peggy” Hamilton, George E. Hamilton, Jr., Tim (Kathy) Hamilton, Terry (Rhonda) Hamilton, Jeff Hamilton, Kevin Hamilton and son-in-law Merle Hutchman, grandchildren, Matthew (Amber) Hutchman, Michael (Becky) Hutchman, Sarah (Tony) Monfre, Tim Hamilton, Jr., Amanda Hamilton, Leslie (Adam) Dopkowski, Lisa (Mac) Cohe, Julia Hamilton and six great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant daughter Kathleen Hamilton and his sister Sarah Netzel.

Family will receive friends Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm in the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer Twp., where parting prayers will be conducted Saturday 9 am, with a Catholic Funeral Mass in St. Victor Church following with the Rev. James P. Holland, officiating, He will be laid to rest near his parents in St. Mary’s of the Assumption Church Cemetery, Hampton.
