Daniel J. Makuta, 72 of West Deer Township died Wednesday September 26, 2018. He was born September 17, 1946 in Natrona Heights to the late Joseph G. and Irene (Tonet) Makuta. Dan grew up and has lived in West Deer all of his life. He was a member of Transfiguration R.C. Church, Russellton. Dan graduated in 1964 from Conley Vocational School with his specialty in Printing. Dan worked as a printer for various companies throughout the Pittsburgh area. He was the owner of Makuta & Associates, the publisher of the Town Flyer, which has been published for the past 25 years. He was the former Public Relations Director for Deer Lakes School District, was a wedding photographer for over 16 years, he was the Co-author of the Complete Desk top Publisher and the co-owner of the former Shopper’s Review publication which was published in the late 60’s. He enjoyed photography, fishing, spending time with his family especially his granddaughters.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years Kathryn N. (Hodges) Makuta, his son Brian J. (Julie) Makuta of Glenshaw, his daughter Pamela M. (Sean) Cortopassi of Manassas Park, VA and his granddaughters Felicity and Cecilia Makuta.
Friends will be received Thursday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM in the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer, where parting prayers will be conducted Friday at 9:30 am with a Catholic Funeral Mass will follow in Transfiguration R.C. Church, Russellton with the Rev. James P. Holland, officiating. He will be privately laid to rest in Deer Creek Cemetery, Harmar Township. In lieu of Flowers Memorial contributions should be given to the family. They will distribute them to several Local Organizations.
