Douglas R. Bertha, Sr. 61 of Curtisville, West Deer Township, died Sunday December 2, 2018 as a result of an automobile accident. He was born March 15, 1957 in Pittsburgh to the late Robert A. and Francis J. (Gazdik) Bertha. Doug has lived in West Deer most of his life graduating from Deer Lakes High School in 1975. Doug was an Iron Worker and 38 year member of the Iron Workers Union Local 3, and recently was self-employed as a remodeling contractor. A member of Transfiguration R.C. Church, Russellton, the Owls Club, Russellton, the Outdoor Life Lodge, Fawn and the American Legion, Russellton. Doug enjoyed hunting, spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include 2 granddaughters Gillian T. Bertha and Eliana Beth Ann Belschner, his brothers Dane M. (Lori) Bertha of Bairdford and Drew P. (Christine) Bertha of Fawn Township, his step-sons David J. Kennedy, Jr. of Shaler and Samuel J. Kennedy with whom he lived, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his 1st wife Beth Ann (Taylor) Bertha, his 2nd wife Terri L. (Hoefelder) Bertha, his sons Douglas R. Bertha, Jr, and Justin M. Bertha and his daughter Stacey L. Bertha.
Friends received Thursday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM in the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer Twp. where parting prayers will be conducted Friday 9:30 AM, with a funeral mass following in Transfiguration R.C. Church, Russellton with the Rev. James P. Holland, officiating, He will be laid to rest with his children in Our Lady of Hope Cemetery, Frazier.
