Michael C. McPherson, 71 of West Deer Township, died Sunday June 3, 2018, at Concordia at Rebecca Residence, West Deer with his wife by his side. He was born December 13, 1946 in New Kensington to the late Harry D. and Meredith J. (Madison) McPherson. Mike grew up in Springdale graduating from Springdale High School in 1964. Following high school, Mike served his country during the Vietnam War in the US Air Force achieving the rank of Sergeant. Returning from the war, he went to work for the US Postal Service at the Warrendale Bulk Mail Center where he was a Supervisor for over 30 years. A member of Transfiguration R.C. Church, Russellton, the American Legion, West Deer and a former member of the Ridge Runners. Michael was a quiet, gentle man who had a wonderful sense of humor and a sharp wit. Mike enjoyed playing golf, traveling, everything sports, especially the Steelers, classic cars and he especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years Carol A. (Krupa) McPherson, his son Matthew D. McPherson of Rural Ridge, his daughter Jennifer N. (Joshua) Fox of Fawn, grandchildren Chloe, Rylie, Lilly and Joshua Fox, his sister Edith (Daniel) Resnik of Beaver and his brother Richard (Holly) McPherson of Industry.
Family will receive friends Tuesday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM in the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer, where parting prayer will be conducted Wednesday 9:30 AM with a Catholic Funeral Mass following in Transfiguration R.C. Church, Russellton with the Rev. Charles Speicher, officiating. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributors may be made to the Parkinson Foundation of Western PA, 575 Lincoln Ave. Bellevue, PA 15202.
