Robert J. Loper, 75 of West Deer Township died Wednesday September 19, 2018 with his family by his side. He was born May 6, 1943 in Pittsburgh to the late Herbert E. and Irma A. (Blose) Loper. Bob grew up in Pittsburgh graduating from Washington Vo-Tech in 1961. Following graduation Bob enlisted in the US Army. Upon returning from the service he married the love of his life Jean M. (Wassell) Loper October 17, 1964. He worked as a machinist for National Valve Company in Pittsburgh for over 21 years. He enjoyed volunteering his time coaching little league baseball, youth basketball and youth football. He also enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, was an avid fisherman and was accomplished carpenter actually building furniture for his home, but especially enjoyed spending time with his dog Oliver
Survivors include his wife of 53 years Jean M. (Wassell) Loper, children Janet M. Loper with whom they live, Nannette A. (Mark) Quillen of West Deer and Robert J. (Christina) Loper, Jr. of West Deer, his grandchildren Matthew, Noah, Mark, Jr., Adam, Robert and Layne and his sister Grace Ostrowski of Pittsburgh.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Herbert Loper and his sister Rita Shauehnessy.
Friends will be received Friday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM in the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer, where parting prayers will be conducted Saturday at 9:30 am with a Catholic Funeral Mass will follow in St. Victor R.C. Parish, Bairdford with the Rev. Charles Speicher, officiating. He will be privately laid to rest in Allegheny Cemetery, Lawrenceville.
