A. Lucille “Lucy” (Helman) Smith, 84, of Owenton Kentucky passed away Tuesday May 14, 2024 after a brief illness. Lucy was born in Shelocta, Pennsylvania on February 2, 1940. A daughter of Elder C. and Rosalene (McCullough) Helman. She was raised in Rural Ridge, and graduated from West Deer High School in 1958. A graduate from Allegheny Valley School of Nursing in 1961. Shortly after graduating she moved to California where she lived till 1970 when she moved to Owenton. She worked as a Nurse for the State of Kentuckies Three Rivers Health Department until her retirement. Lucy’s favorite pastime was reading; she was a voracious reader often reading a book a day. She also liked taking bus trips to anywhere in the states. Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, sister Lorraine Gordon and brother Dan Helman. She is survived by a brother, Dave (Shirley) Helman of Creighton, a special thanks to her niece, Linda Perry of Owenton, for being there to give her help and friendship; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends and family will be received on Tuesday May 21, from 12 – 4 pm with funeral services at 4 p.m. at the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer Township.
