Barry Fleck, 80 from Gibsonia, West Deer Township, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with ALS on Sunday December 28, 2025. Barry was born on December 10, 1945, in Allison Park, to the late Ernest Lincoln and Betty Jane (Albright) Fleck. After graduating from West Deer High School in 1964, Barry joined the US Army and enjoyed the time he spent as a heavy equipment operator. After his time in the military, Barry worked for Papercraft in Blawnox and Gas Line Service Company in Gibsonia until his retirement in 2016. Barry was an avid lover of history, traveling, classic cars, motorcycles, and farming. Some of his fondest memories were growing up on the Fleck Dairy Farm and he took tremendous pride in maintaining the property until his diagnosis. Above all Barry was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and godfather.
He is survived by his son Jeff Fleck; grandchildren Madison, Noah, and Brianna Fleck; brother Randy (Mary Ann) Fleck; brother Danny (Janice)Fleck; niece Julie Anne Fleck; (great niece/nephew Kayda & Brody); niece Nat Chamberlin; goddaughter Kristen Sicilia Scioscia.
He was proceeded in death by step-mother Henrietta Fleck and step-father Jerry McCall.
The family is eternally grateful for all the support they received through the Butler Veterans Association and PVA. They went above and beyond to help them navigate through the challenges of ALS, and with their support, even in the hardest moments, Barry carried himself with dignity and continued to show what resilience truly means. The journey was not easy, but in the midst of the struggle, he left us with powerful lessons about love, perseverance, and the value of each day.
At Barry's request, a private military honors burial will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery in Gettysburg, PA and memorial contributions may be sent, in his name, to the Paralyzed Veterans of America online at https://secure.pva.org. Arrangements were entrusted to the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer Township. View obituary and leave condolences at www.siwicki-yanickofh.com/obituary/Barry-Fleck
