Bonita Duryea Obituary

Bonita A. “Bonnie” (Doutt) Duryea, 65 of Lower Burrell, formerly of West Deer Township, died Wednesday, January 1, 2025 at her home with her loving family by her side. She was born October 12, 1959 in Natrona Heights to the late Albert and Phyllis (Dobrzynski) Doutt. Bonnie grew up in West Tarentum, graduating from Deer Lakes in 1977. She was a member of St. Margaret-Mary Parish, Lower Burrell. Following high school, Bonnie attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh earning an Associate Degree in Graphic Arts. Her love for music was shown through her beautiful voice and talent as a pianist. She shared these gifts and passion as she performed as an organist/cantor for masses, funerals, and weddings for various Catholic churches in the area, including St. Victor and Transfiguration Church, West Deer for over 20 years. Bonnie was a loving, caring, and dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She relished in watching her three sons’ soccer games from elementary age all the way through college, all the while raising them to become dedicated fathers and husbands with the same values and love that she instilled within them. She adored and spoiled her nine grandchildren. They always knew that Bebe “came packing” with snacks! Her life on this earth ultimately ended the same way that everyday has for the past 44+ years, with her husband by her side, in their home, in each other’s loving presence.

Survivors include her husband of 44 years Dennis J. Duryea, her sons Dennis M. (Stacey, D.O.) Duryea, D.O. of Harrisburg, Scott N. (Sam) Duryea, Ph.D. of Morgantown, WV and Neal J. (Jenny) Duryea of Ohio Township, grandchildren Sofi, Lucy, Emery, Josie, Luka, Bria, James, Mila and Eve, and her brothers Albert (Janeen) Doutt of Hampton and Christopher Doutt of West Deer.

Friends will be received Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm in the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer, where parting prayers will be conducted Tuesday 10:15 am with a funeral mass following at 11 am. in St. Margaret-Mary Parish, Lower Burrell, with the Rev. Ken Zaccagnini, officiating. She will be laid to rest in Our Lady of Hope Cemetery, Frazer Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent in her name to the ALS Association, ATTN: WPA 1300 Wilson Blvd, Ste. 600 Arlington, VA 22209, noting her name in the donation, or to ICAN Talk Clinic or the AAC Institute, 1100 Washington Ave., Suite 317, Carnegie, PA 15106.
