Daniel M. Fentress, 82 of Indiana Township, died Tuesday March 16, 2021 at UPMC Mercy with his family by his side. He was born August 4, 1938 in Sharon to the late John M. and Ginevra (Lipps) Fentress. Dan served his country in the US Navy achieving the rank of Lieutenant and was stationed on the USS Wright. After his return he went to work for Alcoa as a Sr. Systems Analyst working for them 29 years. Following Alcoa, he worked for Rapidigm also as a Sr. Systems Analyst 5 years until he retired in 2005. Dan was a long time member of East Union Presbyterian Church, serving as an Elder, a Trustee and also sang in the church choir. He enjoyed watching Steeler Football, bowling, singing in the church choir, listening to music though enjoyed chocolate chip cookies, chocolate chip ice cream and brownies most.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years Mary Lynn (Isaacs) Fentress, his children Christine (Kenneth) Pfeffer of Syracuse, NY, Darrin M. Fentress of Coraopolis, Jonathan M. (Holly) Fentress of Eau Claire, WI and Matthew (Kali Stanger) Fentress, M.D. of Benicia, CA, grandchildren Emma, Jacob, Becca, John, Kaleb, Clarajane, Aiden, Dylan and Gabriel, and his brother Robert M. (Enna) Fentress of Syosset, NY and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Dan’s life will be held at a later date after the pandemic restrictions are lifted. Arrangements will be private and entrusted to the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer Township.
