Darlene Benn Obituary

Darlene A. (Mason) Benn, 75 of Harrison Township, died Tuesday February 7, 2023 at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, with her loving family by her side. She was born May 4, 1947 in New Kensington to the late Joseph L. and Rose Mary (Raffaelli) Mason. Darlene grew up and graduated from East Deer/Frazer High School in 1965. Following high school, she attended New Kensington Commercial School earning an associate degree. She was a long time member of The First Baptist Church of Tarentum where she was very active and holding the positions of Deaconess and Moderator as well as volunteering in many of the committees. She worked over 42 years as the church secretary at Bull Creek United Presbyterian Church, West Deer. Darlene also was a member of the Allegheny Valley Association of Churches holding the position of 2nd Vice President for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, crossword puzzles, reading, though especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughters Amy L. (Joe) Snyder of Winfield Township and Lisa A. (Scott) Polly of Natrona Heights; grandchildren Ashlee (Derek) Rose of Buffalo Township and Scotty Polly of Natrona Heights, her brother Ronald A. (Karen) Mason of Woodbine, MD and her sister Cheryl L. (Michael) Cisek of Frazer Township and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Leroy A. Benn and her sister Mona Jean Mason.

The family will receive friends Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer Township. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 10 am in The First Baptist Church of Tarentum, 410 East 3rd Avenue, Tarentum, PA 15084, with the Rev. Dr. Felicia Brock, officiating. The family asks all to meet at the church on Saturday. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Bull Creek Cemetery, West Deer. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to The First Baptist Church of Tarentum, 410 3rd Avenue, Tarentum, PA 15084 or Allegheny Valley Association of Churches, 1913 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights, PA 15065.
