Darlene Ann Fryer, 82, of West Deer Township, died Thursday January 18, 2024 in Forbes Regional Hospital Monroeville after a brief illness. She was born December 2, 1941 in Tarentum to the late James D. and Edna M. (Collier) Fryer. She worked as an Administrative Assistant for Woodward & Lothrop Department Store in Washington D.C. for 25 years, and then for Costa Construction in Cheswick, PA. She was a life-long member of East Union Presbyterian Church where she served as a Deacon and volunteered to help with everything from setting up for services to Breakfast with Santa. Darlene enjoyed gardening and spent countless hours tending to the church garden. She will be remembered for her beautiful flowers and will especially be known for her service toward others.
Survivors include her Sister Joan L. (Philip) Zaluska, of Washington State, Sister-in-law Della Fryer, niece Dana Enderle (Troy Appleman), nephews James W. Fryer Jr (Rosemarie) and Wayne Fryer (Kelly Bauer) and many great nieces and nephews, all of Ohio, as well as cousins Sandra Skriba of Plum, Glenn (Arlene) Prager of Tennessee, and Kathryn Prager of Penn Hills.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents James Fryer and Anna Muntz Fryer, parents James D. Fryer and Edna Collier Fryer, and brother, James W. Fryer Sr.
A celebration of Life will be held Saturday February 3, 2024 at 11 am in Founders Chapel of East Union Presbyterian Church 292 East Union Road Cheswick PA 15024. Arrangements are under the care of the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer Township. Memorial Contributions may be made to East Union Church.
