David A. Wood, 86 of Saxonburg, formerly of West Deer Township, died Monday April 8, 2024 at Butler Memorial Hospital, Butler. He was born May 11, 1937 in Bairdford, West Deer to the late Iva A. (Wood) Eversole. Dave grew up in Bairdford and attended West Deer High School. He served his country during the Korean Conflict in the US Air Force achieving the rank of Airman 2nd Class. Dave was self-employed running Wood Home Improvement Company for over 30 years. Following retirement, he worked at the Bakerstown Presbyterian Church as their maintenance man for many years. Dave attended Sarver Wesleyan Methodist Church, Sarver and was a member of the Saxonburg VFW as well as the Owl’s Club, Russellton. He enjoyed gardening, his family and his work and volunteering with Hosanna Industries, Inc., Gibsonia.
Survivors include his wife Elizabeth “Tina” (Maute) Wood, his children David A. (Kathy) Wood, Jr. and Shawn M. (Joseph Kopac) Wood both of Clinton Township, grandchildren Shane (Katie) Swigart of New Kensington, Hannah (David) Pawlowski of Bairdford, Jacob (Aubrey) Wood of Clinton and Luke Wood of Clinton, brothers Richard (Patricia) Eversole and Jerry (Lillian) Eversole both of West Deer.
Besides his mother, he was preceded in death by his brother Samuel C. Wood.
Friends will be received Thursday from 2-4 PM & 6-8 PM in the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer Township, where the funeral service will be conducted Friday 10am with the Rev. Nathan Troyer, officiating. Following the service, he will be buried with full military honors in Evans City Cemetery, Evans City.
