Derrick J. Edwards, 66, of Russellton, West Deer Township, formerly of Saxonburg, died Monday October 24, 2022 with his wife by his side at Allegheny Valley Hospital, Harrison Township. He was born February 7, 1956 in Pittsburgh to the late Julius and Lettie Mae (Strader) Edwards. Derrick was an electronic percussionist for many years playing in various local bands especially Keys to your Heart, Norm Nardini & the Tigers, Tom Watt & the Fruit Cakes and played on the CTV show Light Music to just name a few. He attended the Unity Community Church, Plum where he also played in the Worship Band and was a lifetime member of the American Federation of Musicians of New Kensington. His biggest love was his music and his wife.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years Janet A. (Johns) Edwards and many cousins and dear friends.
Derrick’s wife invites all to attend a celebration of his life on Sunday October 30, 2022 at 4 pm in the Unity Community Church, 215 Unity Trestle Road, Plum, PA 15238 with the Rev. Frank Deluce, and Rev. Robert Strader, officiating. He will be privately laid to rest. Arrangements were entrusted to the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer Township. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to The Unity Community Church.
