Dolores J. “Jean” (Nock) Christy, 88 of West Deer Township, died Saturday December 26, 2020 at her son’s home. She was born December 11, 1932 in Natrona Heights to the late Aloysious A. and Ruth A. (Smith) Nock. Jean grew up in Tarentum and graduated from Tarentum High School in 1950. She moved to West Deer 65 years ago. She worked at several area banks as a bank teller. Jean was a member of Bull Creek United Presbyterian Church, West Deer. She enjoyed reading, sewing, crocheting and knitting. Jean has knitted hundreds of caps for the Magee Women’s Hospital Cancer Center.
Survivors include her children Dorothy J. (Mark) Churilla of West Mifflin, Deborah J. (Richard) Nicola of Pittsburgh and James C. (Renee) Christy, Jr. of Russellton, grandchildren Nicole (Ray Unterzuber) Christy of Wheeling, WVa and Victoria (DJ) Vasil of Springdale and her sister-in-law Shirley Nock of Lower Burrell, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband James C. Christy, Sr.; her brothers Joseph A. and Wayne Nock and her sisters Ruth George and Irene Kotelic.
At the family’s request all services were private. A public memorial service will be scheduled in the spring, as soon as the restrictions are lifted. She was privately buried with her husband in Bull Creek Cemetery, West Deer. Arrangements were entrusted to the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer Township.
