Donald F. Walker, Sr. 84 of Murrysville formerly of Morningside, died Wednesday July 1, 2020 at his home with his family by his side. He was born January 25, 1936 in Latrobe to the late Francis and Ethel (Biesecker) Walker. Don was a 1953 graduate of Pittsburgh Central High School and was of Catholic Faith. He served his country during the Korean War in the National Guard achieving a rank of Sergeant. Don worked for Auto Rental on the North Side then went to work for Hertz car sales as a car salesman for over 17 years in Pittsburgh. He enjoyed trivia, playing Trivial Pursuit, traveling the world, reading, especially Civil War History and going to Gettysburg, where his family had a farm which is now part of the Gettysburg Civil War properties. Don’s greatest love was spending time with his wife and family.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years Elizabeth “Betty” (Bates) Walker, his children Paul W. (Erin) Walker of Seven Fields, Marilyn E. (Robert) Hudak of Murrysville, Margie A. (Francis) Tomalewski of Scott Township and Donald F. (Cindy) Walker, Jr. of West Deer; 9 grandchildren, Jackie (Don), Rebecca (Ken) Jesse (Vicky) Emily (Rick) Kelly, Donny (Hanna) Elissa (Aaron), Kevin and Maura, 8 great-grandchildren and his sister Beatrice O. McCarron of Acworth, GA and many nieces and nephews.
At Don’s request a private family graveside service was held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Sharpshill Road, O’Hara Township, with the Rev. James P. Holland officiating. Arrangements were entrusted to the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer Township. Family suggests making a contribution in Don’s name to the charity of your choice.
