Donald R. “Pook” Porter, 85 of Fawn Township, died Sunday March 27, 2022 at his home with his wife by his side. He was born January 28, 1937 in Fawn, where he has lived all of his life. Pook worked as the produce manager for a number of the Therefare Grocery Stores in the Valley for over 30 years. He also was the owner of Porters Garage, Fawn for over 30 years, was a Fawn Township Police officer for over 10 years and was a co-manager & bartender for the Outdoor Life Lodge, Fawn. Pook enjoyed auctions, flea markets and playing cards.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years Cheryl A. (Greiner) Porter, his children Donna M. (Mel) Buchat of Saxonburg, Danielle M. (Robert Scriver) Kutchko of Lower Burrell and Patrick D. (Danielle) Porter of Fawn, 10 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and his lifelong friend Edward “Banjo” Callen of N.C.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his son Harold “Huck” Porter, his infant daughter Michelle Porter and his brothers Harold, Jr. and Robert Porter.
At Pook’s request, a private family graveside service was held in Summit United Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Jefferson Township, where he was laid to rest next to his father.
