Edward M. Varshine, 68 of Rural Ridge, Indiana Township, died Friday December 10, 2021 at UPMC Presbyterian. Ed bravely battled Parkinson’s for many years. He was born December 9, 1953 in Natrona Heights to the late Edward T. and Olga (Luchesa) Varshine. Ed grew up in Rural Ridge graduating from Fox Chapel High School in 1971. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Parish, West Deer and worked as a custodian for Fox Chapel School District for over 20 years. Ed enjoyed beach vacations and shopping with his beloved daughter Jaime, magic tricks, magic shows, celebrating and decorating for his favorite holidays, Halloween and Christmas, was an avid Steeler, Penguin and Pirate fan, and most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends and brought so much joy to all our lives. He will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his daughter Jaime L. Varshine of Natrona Heights, his sisters Arlene (Vince) Markey of Natrona Heights, Shirley (Bill) Gibbons of York and Judy (Larry) Lutz of Sarver and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and his former wife Jeanine (Goodlow) Dodson of Bethel Park.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Rowan E. Varshine, Oct. 21, 2008.
Family will receive friends on Sunday December 12th from 2-4 pm & 6-8 pm in the Siwicki-Yanicko Funeral Home, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer Township where parting prayers will be conducted Monday 9:30 am with a Catholic funeral mass following in Our Lady of the Lakes Parish, Transfiguration Church Campus at 10 am with the Rev.
