It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Eugene Frank Simonetti (Gene) age 88, on March 24, 2026 in his home surrounded by loved ones in West Deer Township. He was born December 26, 1937, in Russellton to the late Dominic and Jessie Bassetti Simonetti. Gene graduated from high school in 1956, His working career started early with several small jobs helping out and delivering groceries at the Star Market as a teenager, amongst other odd jobs. After graduation he found employment at Edgewater Steel in Oakmont, PA as a railroad wheel spark inspector. However, Gene had bigger dreams that sparked his beginning as a successful businessman. Often referring to himself as a hustler Gene put many hours into making his businesses successful.
Gene owned and operated, with the help of his wife Marlene and Children; Gene’s Firearms and Supplies in Natrona Heights, West Deer Cabinet’s in Russellton, and Gene’s Jeans in the Mall at Natrona Heights. Gene lived life to the fullest, notably through the many hobbies and sports he enjoyed. Most known for his extraordinary hunting ability, he also enjoyed Football, Baseball, Shooting, Gardening, Fishing, Golf, and even competed in a Marathon in his 50’s. A Generous man who enjoyed helping others and never hesitated to lend a helping hand. Often supplying several family members, friends and neighbors with harvested meat from his hunts, Homemade Sausage, Garlic, Tomatoes and other Homegrown Vegetables from their garden. Gene’s legacy of humor, perseverance, and learning will be carried forward by those who had the privilege of knowing him. His remarkable life will forever be an inspiration, a testament to the power of an indomitable spirit enthused with curiosity and resilience. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
Eugene’s blended family consisted of his loving wife Marlene A. Tabacchi Chelpanoff Simonetti, children, Ron Simonetti of Natrona Heights, Bruce Simonetti of Ford City, Scott (Susie) Simonetti of Alabama, Ann (Keith) Lusco of Alabama, Jeff (Lisa) Chelpanoff of Richland, and Lynette (Adam) Olszewski of Allison Park, 6 Grandchildren, Jerry, Andrew, Evvy, India, Chase and Nathan.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Frank Simonetti and a sister Dolores Cetti
Friends will be received Saturday from 10 am until parting prayers will be conducted at 12:30 pm in the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer, with the Catholic funeral mass to follow at 1 pm in Our Lady of the Lakes Parish, St. Victor Church, Bairdford, West Deer, with the Rev. Fred Cain, officiating.
