Genevieve (Hajduk) Slovenec

Genevieve (Geny) (Hajduk) Slovenec, 81 of Rural Ridge, Indiana Township passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, January 1, 2025, surrounded by her loving children. Geny was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She was born May 26, 1943 in Pittsburgh to the late Joseph and Jennie (Langus) Hajduk. She lived in Oakmont before moving to Rural Ridge with her husband Steve Slovenec. They were married for 52 years before his passing in 2018. Geny treasured her family above all else and found joy in reading, puzzles, and enjoyed watching for the return of the hummingbirds every spring.

Geny, affectionately known as “Mommy” to her six children, is survived by Sharon Slovenec, Angela (Ed) Schmitt, Jennifer (Mike) Hoy, Dorothy (Tony) Erlain, Stephen J. Slovenec and Michael Slovenec and her nine grandchildren, Marissa and Matthew Schmitt, Mitchell and Braden Hoy, Amanda, Anthony and Alex Erlain and Carly and Kayla Slovenec.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her only brother Joseph A. Hajduk, Jr.

Geny will be deeply missed and never forgotten by all those who loved and knew her.
