Gloria Jean Hockenberry

Gloria Jean (Lassinger) Hockenberry, 76 of Ashburn, VA formerly of West Deer Township, died Sunday May 9, 2021, quietly in her sleep, at her home. She was born March 16, 1945 in Natrona Heights to the late Harry C. and Rita K. (Saska) Lassinger. Gloria grew up in the Culmerville section of West Deer graduating from West Deer High School in 1963. She has lived in VA for the past 21 years. Gloria worked in sales at the Havertys Furniture Store for over 20 years. She was a member of Floris United Methodist Church, Fairfax, VA through and participated in worship services, bible studies and other community events. Gloria enjoyed spending time as a devoted wife, mother, sister and grandmother “grammy”. She never met a stranger and was known for her warm and generous heart. She always had a way of making all of those around her feel special, always putting the needs of others above herself. She was indeed a very special woman.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years Larry D. Hockenberry, her daughters Melissa L. (Chris) Wagner of Ashburn, VA and Diane M. Hockenberry of Chevy Chase, MD, granddaughters Allyson, Kaitlyn and Olivia Wagner; siblings, Ronald (Elaine) Lassinger of Mars, Eileen Simmons of Salt Lake City, UT, Richard (Beth) Lassinger of Butler, David (Paula) Lassinger of West Deer and Herbert (Ann) Lassinger of Frazer Township.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter Lori Ann Hockenberry.
