Gregg L. Pompe, 69, of West Deer Township, died Thursday, November 10th, 2022 at UPMC-Passavant Hospital, McCandless with his family by his side. He was born October 16, 1953 in Pittsburgh to the late Richard G. and Helen (Locke) Pompe. Gregg grew up in West Deer graduating from Deer Lakes High School in 1971. Following graduation, he went on to the University of Chicago to receive his Bachelor’s degree. He went to work for West Penn Testing in New Kensington working over 35 years as a non-destructive testing technician. Gregg was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman who lived by the creed, “Fortune Favors the Bold.” He was happiest with his family or in a stream fishing by his camp in Potter County. He especially enjoyed hikes and campfires with his beloved grandchildren. While not fishing, he was known to wear a shirt with fish on it so people would know where he would rather be. Gregg also enjoyed horse racing, handicapping and trips to Saratoga. He always wanted people around him to be enjoying life.
Survivors include his wife, Karen R. (Kwiatkowski) Pompe, his sons Dan (Lisa) of Saxonburg and Damon (Katie) of Richland Twp., grandchildren Rocco and Gia, and his brother Mark (Adele and Emily) Pompe of Russellton.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Rex Pompe.
Family will receive friends Wednesday November 16 from 3pm to the time of the service at 5:30 pm in the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer Twp.
