Gretchen (Becker) Wegler, 64 of Rural Ridge, Indiana Township, died Thursday December 10, 2020 at her home. She was born February 21, 1956 in Pittsburgh to the late Joseph J. and Catherine G. “Gerri” Becker, Jr. Gretchen grew up in Fox Chapel graduating from Winchester-Thurston School for Girls, Pittsburgh. She was a member of St. Marks Lutheran Church, Springdale, where she was President of the Church Council. Gretchen worked as an office manager of Q-dot, Inc., Pittsburgh for over 13 years. While they lived in Dublin, PA, she was a member of the Dublin VFD where she was the Captain of the Fire Police and also was an EMT. When she and her husband returned to the Pittsburgh area, she worked for Foxwall EMS as an EMT. She enjoyed long walks and was an avid book reader.
Survivors include her husband of 30 years Albert J. Wegler, her sons Joseph J. and Bradley J. Wegler both at home, her sister Paula (Dennis) Vito of Queenstown, MD, brothers John J. (Karen) Becker, II of Ellicott City, MD and Christopher Becker, Sr. of Danville, NH; her nieces Blyth Vito and Caitlyn Evans and nephews Thomas (Marilyn) Vito, Christopher Becker, Jr. and Teague Becker.
At Gretchen’s request, viewing and burial will be private. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date to be held at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Springdale. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions should be sent to the St. Mark’s Church Cemetery, 1600 Pittsburgh Street, Springdale, PA 15144.
