Irene M. “Jimmie” Matecka, 88 of Russellton, West Deer Township, died Wednesday October 5, 2022 at Concordia at Ridgewood Place, Plum, where she has been a patient, for the past two weeks. Jim was born on February 23, 1934 in Curtisville to the late John and Mary (Sumyard) Matecka. She grew up in Curtisville and graduated from West Deer High School in 1952, and has lived in West Deer most of her life. Jim went to work for Saxonburg Ceramics, Saxonburg where she worked over 37 years retiring in 1999. She was a life member of the Owl’s Club, Russellton. She enjoyed collecting Owl’s, bingo, slots and playing Texas holdem.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by all of her siblings, including her sisters Ann Swaiko, Mary Stanfield, Mildred Stivenson, Helen Maholic, Margaret Moses and Pauline “Tootsie” Mariana; and her brothers John, Joseph, William and Steve Matecka and Kenneth McCune.
At Jimmie’s request all viewing, services and burial were private. She was buried with her family in Deer Creek Cemetery, Harmar Township, Arrangements were entrusted to the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer Township.
