James “Ozzie” Oswald, Sr., 74 of West Deer Township, formerly of Southside, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2022, surrounded by his family. He was born July 10, 1947 in Pittsburgh to the late John M. and Elizabeth (Pfoertner) Oswald. Jim grew up on the Southside moving to West Deer 29 years ago. He served his country during the Vietnam war in the US Army achieving the rank of Spec. 4. Jim was known for his trade of a mechanic, most of which was at L& M Tire in New Kensington working for over 50 years. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Parish, West Deer. Jim enjoyed boating and spending time with friends and family.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years Joyce A. (Schott) Oswald, his sons James E. (Christy) Oswald, Jr. and Chad Oswald, both of West Deer, his grandchildren Bryce and Brayde sons of Christy and Jim JR and Aiden Oswald son of Chad Oswald and Sheleen Smith, his sister Linda (John) Kline of Southside and many nieces and nephews and his best friend of over 50 years George (Sue) Funk of Overbrook.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers John and Tim Oswald, his nephew Scott Oswald and his great-niece Samantha Oswald
Friends will be received Wednesday from 2-4 pm & 6-8 pm in the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer where a blessing service will be conducted Thursday at 9:30 am with the Rev. James P. Holland, officiating. He will be buried with full military honors at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville.
