Joan H. (Hostetter) Miller, 84, formerly of Culmerville, West Deer Township, passed peacefully, Monday May 30, 2022 at Butler Memorial Hospital, Butler. She was born February 20, 1938 in Newport, Perry County, PA to the late Homer O. and Addiemae (Richardson) Hostetter. Joan grew up in rural Adams County then she moved to Allegheny/Butler County area to raise her children, moving to West Deer in 1970. She began working at Tandem Health Care, Indiana Township as a nursing assistant and went back to school to earn her certificate as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), at the age of 53, continuing to work at Tandem for a total of 15 years. She enjoyed spending time with her late sister Betty Jean, her family, sewing, puzzles, playing phase 10 and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her children Sue (Dale) Daniels of Oakland Township, William (Mary) Walker of Buffalo Township, Carol (Bob) Fry of West Deer and Betty Jo (Clint Lohler) Huss of Fawn Township; her sister Connie Altice of Gardners; 19 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents she was proceeded in death by her 1st husband Robert S. Walker, 2nd husband John “Jack” D. Miller, infant daughter Nancy Jean Walker, brothers Harold and Earl Hostetter and sisters Betty Jean Henry and Arletta Bream.
Family will receive friends Sunday from 2-6 pm in the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer Twp. where services will be conducted Monday 10 am with the Rev. W.
