John S. McCurdy, Sr. 64 of Culmerville, West Deer Township, died Wednesday June 16, 2021 at UPMC St. Margarets, Pittsburgh with his family by his side. He was born November 16, 1956 in Harrison Township to the late Alvin A. and Virginia C. (Battrell) McCurdy, Sr. John grew up and has lived in West Deer most of his life. He worked as a truck driver for many years at Three Rivers Trucking. He was a quiet and good hearted guy who would help anyone for nothing in return. John was a regular member of the Owl’s Club, Russellton, the Outdoor Life Lodge, Fawn and a social member of the Krivan Club, Springdale and the Tarentum Eagles. He enjoyed working on cars and spending time with his grandson.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years Joyce A. (Palmer) McCurdy, his sons George (Hope) Palmer and John (Ashley) McCurdy both of Russellton, his grandchildren Logan McCurdy, Hannah Davis and Jimmy Davis, his brothers Alvin McCurdy Jr. of New Ken, William (Dawn) McCurdy of Springdale, sisters Virginia (Don) Augustine of West Deer and Matilda Lakshmanan of New Ken, beloved mother-in-law Virginia Palmer of Russellton and his aunt Arlene Palmer of Russellton, and several nieces and nephews.
