John T. “Jack” Hails, Sr., 89 of Curtisville, West Deer Township, passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family on June 12, 2021 at his home. He was born August 11, 1931 in Harrison Township, to the late Robert H. and Eva (Pry) Hails, Sr. Jack grew up and has lived in Curtisville all of his life. He served his country during the Korean War achieving the rank of Gunners Mate 3rd Class in the US Navy. He was a former active member of West Deer VFD #1 helping build the new fire hall building. Jack worked for over 25 years as a truck driver for Penn Dot. He was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan, enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, tinkering in the garage, scrapping and especially spending time with his children and grand-children.
Survived by his children Colleen Donovan at home, Cynthia (Daniel) Scully of Curtisville, Patricia Hrnciar at home, John “Jack” T. (Lori) Hails, Jr. of Cherry Valley, William P. (Donna) Hails of Curtisville, Robert H. Hails of Russellton, Todd A. (Heather Johnston) Hails of Tarentum, 12 grandchildren, and 1 great-granddaughter and his sister Linda (William) Hidek of Wilmington, NC.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Geraldine B. “Jerry” “Ragg Mopp” (Sethman) Hails his granddaughter Theresa Renziehausen, his brother Robert “Huck” Hails and sisters Roberta “Toots” Pillart, Eva Mae Hess and Henrietta “Sis” Machen.
Friends received Tuesday 2-4 PM & 6-8 PM in the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKRELL ROAD, RUSSELLTON, WEST DEER TWP. where a funeral service will be conducted Wednesday 9 AM, with the Rev. James Ramsey, officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to Family Hospice 700 Bower Hill Road, Rm. 1405, Pittsburgh, PA 15243.
