John “Jack” Alexander Shelestak, 69, of Bairdford, West Deer Township, died Sunday December 17, 2023 at VA Hospital Aspinwall. He was born June 9, 1954 in Sewickley to the late Steve and Elsie (Hamilton) Shelestak. John lived most of his life in West Deer, except for the 30 years in DuBois. He was Repairman/Owner of S&S Electric Motor Repair Co. in DuBois for 20 years. A Lance Corporal for the US Marine Corps during the Viet Nam War. He was a member of the Bairdford United Methodist Church, VFW in Springdale, American Legion West Deer and Allegheny Valley Marine Corps League #827. Jack enjoyed hunting, fishing, archery, riding his motorcycle and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his two brothers, James S. (Theresa) Shelestak of Clintonville, Terry L. (Shirley) Shelestak of Clinton Township, two sisters, Kathleen S. (Wilbert) Mueller of Bairdford and Pauline M. Shelestak of Bairdford, 7 nieces, several great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
At Jack’s request burial will be private in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies Bridgeville. Arrangements were entrusted to the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer Township. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to Bairdford U.M.
