Joseph Franklin McCorkle, Sr.

Joseph Franklin McCorkle, Sr., 69 of Verona, passed peacefully at his home. He was born June 15, 1955, in Tarentum to the late Walter E. and Irene E. (Fisher) McCorkle, Sr. Growing up in West Deer, Joe graduated from Deer Lakes High School in 1973. He served his country in the US Army. Joe was a carpenter by trade and the best caregiver to all his children. In addition to being a Renaissance man full of knowledge, he enjoyed reading, woodworking, gardening, gunsmithing, camping, birdwatching, and music, though his passion was always his family.

He was the beloved husband of Donna M. (Kustes) McCorkle for 30 years, and loving father of Joseph F. McCorkle, Jr. of Cranberry Township, Gretchen (Kyle) Brauch of Tarentum, Vaseffa (Jonathan) Fennick of New Castle, Kayla (Jason) Kernan of Canonsburg, Regis (Melissa) Rothrauff, Jr. of Fredricksburg, VA, Zachary (Sarah) Rothrauff of Verona, and Colin (Gabriella) McCorkle of Springdale. He was Papa Joe or Grandpap to 17 grandchildren: Brennan McCorkle; Riley Archer; Ella and Evan Brauch; Kosey, Asher, Lila, and Callaway Fennick; Riana and Emma Gent; Chyanne, Davina, and Jason, Jr. Kernan; Conor, Mason, and Jacob Rothrauff; and Thomas Ola; and great-grandfather to Raya, Roselyn, Ronan, Allison, and Brennan, Jr. He is also survived by his brother Walter E. (Cheryl) McCorkle, Jr. of Fawn Township, sister Vickie (Timothy) Altfather of DuBois, sister-in-law Mary McCorkle of Natrona Heights, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Bruce McCorkle and his sister Cindy Veri.

Friends will be received Saturday, March 22, beginning at 2PM at the First United Presbyterian Church of Tarentum, 913 Lock Street, Tarentum, PA 15084, in their fellowship hall.
