Kenneth J. Slimick, 84 of Curtisville, West Deer Township died Wednesday October 4, 2023 at Allegheny Valley Hospital with his family by his side after a heroic battle with cancer and many other health challenges, he was a survivor. He was born March 13, 1939 in Curtisville to the late John and Mary (Smetanick) Slimick. Kenny has lived in Curtisville all of his life. He was a member of the St. Michael’s RO Church, Curtisville and was a 1957 graduate of West Deer High School. Kenny went to work for Freeport Transportation at the age of 14 and began driving for them at the age of 16, driving a truck for them over 60 years. He loved cars, planting his garlic, gardening, fishing in Erie for coho salmon or gong to Emporium to go mountain stream trout fishing, he loved Russian, Polish and Italian foods, going to summer festivals, dancing, wearing his signature black clothes, his cowboy hat, his black Peterbilt tractor trailer, meeting different people, loved picking up food from Panera Bread and delivering the baked goods to the community, especially the elderly, families in need and the families with children and they called him the “Cookie Man”, though he loved his family most of all.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years Sandra L. (Gentile) Slimick, his daughters Kimberlee (Richard) Stanisky of Waverly, GA and Tanya N. Slimick of Nashville, TN, grandchildren Kyra, Kenneth, Christopher, Justin; great-grandchildren Copeland, Sebastian, Silas, Oliver, Sawyer, Jasper, Xander and Xavier, and his brother Fred (Donna) Slimick of Natrona Heights.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his son Kevin J. Slimick and his grand-daughter Kristen J. Slimick.
At Kenny’s request private viewing and funeral liturgy were held. Arrangements were entrusted to the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer Township.
