Larry McAdams Obituary

Larry A. McAdams, 84 of Valencia, Middlesex Township, formerly of West Deer Township, passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at AHN Wexford Hospital, with his family by his side. He was born August 29, 1941 to the late Alfred and Grace (Schnitzer) McAdams, Cooperstown, PA. In 1960, he graduated from West Deer High School then enlisted in the Air Force where he served as team leader for the 38th Munitions Maintenance Squadron, 22D Bombardment Wing at March Air Force Base, Riverside, CA and honorably discharged in 1964. He had a passion for fixing things and became an auto mechanic for then John Coxon Ford in Harmerville. He ultimately transitioned to trucking and retired from Yellow Freight Trucking Company of Pittsburgh where he received multiple awards for safe driving. He was a member of Mecca Community Church, Cortland, OH where he was loved by all. His greatest joy in life was his faith in Jesus Christ which allowed him to be the amazing man that he was. His legacy is the many lives he touched throughout his life of service to God. Many people can claim to have been helped by him in their time of need either with home improvements, auto mechanics, finances, or a spiritual word of hope spoken into their lives. He has always been the stabilizing force of the family who spoke heart and reason into any situation. He was an oak tree, able to shelter his loved ones and friends in times of storm.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty (Waibel) McAdams and his three sons, Jeff McAdams (Michele), Keith McAdams, Shawn McAdams, siblings Dale McAdams (Vicki) and Noreen Fortuna (John). He also leaves a legacy of 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and, 2 adoptive grandchildren.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his siblings Ronald McAdams (Connie) and Ellis McAdams (Peggy).
