Mary C. Baechli, born Mary Margaret Callen, passed peacefully at Good Samaritin Hospice of Wexford on February 6, 2021. Mary was born on May 31, 1928 in the Millerstown area of Fawn Township to the late Ruth (McMillen) and John Callen. Mary overcame both vision and hearing disabilities to become a top supervisor for the Bell Telephone Company of Pittsburgh. While working in Pittsburgh, she met her husband George, and was married in 1962. George and Mary moved from Pittsburgh to their home in Ross Township, where Mary left her position to raise her two daughters. She was a loving wife and mother, and was actively involved in her church, serving as a Girl Scout Troop leader for many years and singing in the choir. She was also a talented seamstress who enjoyed making clothes for her daughters and crocheting and embroidering items for her home. When her husband retired, they began travelling the country in an RV. They especially enjoyed camping in Florida and Georgia, and did all of their local trips on bicycles. Mary also loved to fish, enjoying local lakes, parks, and the Big Woods of North Central PA. After the passing of her husband, Mary moved back to the area, residing in West Deer to be near her daughter. She is survived by her daughter, Vicki (David) Kleber of Russellton, her daughter, Mary Baechli, of McKeesport, her sister Patricia Force of Lexington Ohio and her brother, John Callen, of Florida as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Estelle (Charles) Novak of Lodi, California, her brother George Callen, of Lexington Ohio, and her stepson, George Baechli, Jr. of Houston Texas.
Arrangements will be private and entrusted to the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer Township.
