Mary Jane (Fox) Marotta, 81, of Sun City Center, FL, formerly of West Deer Township, PA, died Monday April 22, 2024, just 59 days following the death of her loving husband, Donald Salvatore Marotta. Mary Jane passed away in the Freedom Plaza Memory Care Unit, although she had memory issues, she always knew her “Honey Bunny”. Mary Jane was born on August 15, 1942, in Pittsburgh to the late Charles C. and Josephine H. (Steiner) Fox. She grew up in Glenshaw, graduating from Shaler High School in 1960. She and Don married on April 4, 1964. Mary Jane was a banker for Mellon Bank and FiServe Corporation, Pittsburgh, for over 37 years. Throughout those years they lived in Glenshaw, Richland Township, and West Deer Township. Since 2017, they shared their time between Sun City Center and West Dear Township, until they moved to Sun City Center permanently in 2017. While in Richland and West Deer, she was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Parish, West Deer, where she was a lector and Eucharist minister. Mary Jane loved eating healthily, walking, skiing, golfing, cooking, reading, gardening, and working with stained glass and melted glass art.
Survivors include her siblings Paul Fox of Allison Park, PA; Carol Mangan of Fairfax Station, VA; Audrey Bonnett of Millsboro, DE; Thomas Fox of West Chester, PA, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, Donald S. Marotta, who passed Friday February 23, 2024, she was preceded in death by her sisters Sylvia Truban and Marilyn Bornemann.
The families invite relatives and friends to a joint funeral Mass for Mary Jane and Don on Friday, June 21, 2024 at Our Lady of the Lakes Parish, 527 Bairdford Road, Bairdford, PA, 10 AM with the Rev. James P. Holland, officiating. Following the funeral Mass, they will be laid to rest together at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Sharps Hill, O’Hara Township, next to her parents.
