Michael Andrew Mattone, 60, slipped peacefully in to the arms of Jesus Monday, February 8, 2021 at his West Deer home with his beloved children by his side. Born November 16, 1960 at Allegheny Valley Hospital Natrona Heights to the late Jacquelyn R. (Swigart) and Andrew L. Mattone. Mike grew up in Harwick, graduating from Springdale High School in 1979. His love of the outdoors began as a boy hiking and trapping on Cherry Hill and fishing & hunting with his Father throughout Western PA. In addition to time with his children, he enjoyed his camp on the upper Allegheny, hunting trips with his family and being an active member of the Springdale Sportsman‘s Club. Mike was a natural handy man, able to fix or build just about anything! After his 20+ year facilities/fleet career at Hewlett Packard, he took over as the 3rd generation owner/operator of Mattone Trailer Court in Cheswick. He maintained his entrepreneurial spirit and purchased the Fawn Tavern in 2016. He completed the necessary renovations himself, opened in 2017 and leaves a family business as part of his legacy. He was a devoted and active Dad, sharing family history and traditions, coaching and cheering soccer teams, riding quads, bonding at camp, and just always being there to have their backs. He left this earth as he lived his life, unapologetically on his terms. He will be missed more than words can express and we so look forward to the day we meet again.
Survivors include his children Marina J. Mattone and Mario M. Mattone, and his sisters Roxanne (Terry) Dreher and Rachelle (James) Nesbitt.
A celebration of Mike’s life will be held at a later date after the pandemic restrictions are lifted. Arrangements will be private and entrusted to the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer Township.
