Michael E. Smith

Michael E. Smith, 61 of Russellton, West Deer Township died Tuesday June 30, 2026 at his home. He was born March 30, 1965 in Holyoke, MA to Edward D. Smith, with whom he lived and the late Sherry D. (Thalman) Smith. Mike grew up traveling with his family as his father was transferred from different Army Bases until they moved to West Deer. He was a 1983 graduate of Deer Lakes High School. Mike went to work in the Oil and Gas Industry, moving up the line being a Field Technician to a Project Estimator and finally a manager of Quality Control for Diamond Technical Services. He dedicated much of his career to the energy industry, working in oil and gas operations as well as power generation facilities. His job took him to many areas around the United States. Mike was a true outdoorsman, enjoying golfing, fishing, camping, boating, riding side by sides and traveling.

Besides his father he is survived by his son Shane M. Smith and his fiancé Savannah Healy of Luna Pier, MI and his daughter Lindsey A. Kelly and her fiancé Patrick O’Hara of Palm Coast Florida, and his brother Paul E. (Amy) Smith of Chicora.

He was preceded in death by his mother Sherry D. (Thalman) Smith

Friends received Friday from 6–8 pm in the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer.
