Pauline DeVita Obituary

Pauline Mary Cesaretti DeVita, age 93, a lifelong Russellton native entered Heaven’s gates on Wednesday, March 16, 2022.  She was born to the late Amedeo and Esther (Coccetella) Cesaretti on May 25, 1928.  She married the love of her life the late James Angelo DeVita on August 27, 1949.  Pauline entered the workforce as a young woman.  She worked at Lakewood Cemetery from October 1949 to June 1950. She later worked at Millers’ Shoe Store in New Kensington from 1952-1954. After her children were in school, Pauline worked at Palmers’ Drug Store in Russellton from 1964-1973.  Pauline continued in the workforce after being widowed at a young age. She worked at Gulf Research Center in Harmar from 1977-1986 as a telephone operator.  Pauline continued her employment at Harleysville Insurance Company from 1987-1993. Finally, until she was 75 years old, Pauline demonstrated foods for Giant Eagle in Fox Chapel.  Pauline was the biological mother of three children.  However, many people considered Pauline their surrogate mother.  Family and friends were Pauline’s passion and delight.  Pauline was an exceptional wife and mother.  She cared deeply for her family and neighbors.  She was a down to earth, beautiful soul. Pauline was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends.  She was a dedicated Steelers fan. She was an avid member of the West Deer Travelers’ League.  She and her friends enjoyed visiting many United States locations. Pauline, along with her brothers, husband, and father, visited relatives in Italy on several occasions.  Pauline was fluid in English and Italian. Pauline was the devoted mother of Kathy DeVita, Sandra (Richard) Galie, and the late Jamie (Robert) Martinac; loving grandmother of Renee (Justin) Bogan and Rebecca (Matthew) Mentecky; adored Nonna of Santino, Catalina, Capri, Sicily, Siena, Marco, and soon to be born grandson (her little angels); dear sister of Richard (Elizabeth) Cesaretti and Walter (and the late Dolores) Cesaretti; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.  As a Grandmother Pauline decided to take up walking. She took her elderly father to the track to rest in the stands while she exercised. When she completed a lap her father would stand, cane in hand, and cheer that’s my “Bella”.  She will always be our Bella.

The family would like to thank Concordia Cabot and Good Samaritan Hospice for the wonderful care of Pauline.

Family will receive friends Friday from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm in the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer Township.
