Phyllis E. (Macko) Ivanko, 83 of West Deer Township, died April 29, 2018 at her daughters home with her family by her side. She was born July 11, 1934 in Wall, PA to the late John and Mary E. (Wozar) Macko. Phyllis was a 1952 graduate of Westinghouse Memorial High School in Wall. A member of Sts. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Tarentum, the Ladies Altar Guild and the Rosary Society of the church. She worked as a baker for the Deer Lakes School District as well as at Periwinkles in Harmar. Phyllis was an active member of the Woman’s Auxillary for the Deer Lakes Youth Football organization for over 15 years. She also worked at the Robertson’s Drapery Factory as seamstress. Phyllis enjoyed crocheting, flower and vegetable gardening, though especially enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughters Susan M. (Ira) Scully of Winfield Township, Theresa M.I. (Ross) Sweadner of West Deer and Edith A. Kasarda of Butler and her son Anton J. “Tony” Ivanko at home, nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, her siblings Michael R. (Elizabeth) Macko of Connelsville, Vincent (Patricia) Macko of Las Vegas, George (Janet) Macko of Wilmerding and Lorraine Baker of Greensburg.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Anton Ivanko, her daughter Anita L. Scully and her grandson Gregg Scully.
Family will receive friends Wednesday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM in the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer, where parting prayer will be conducted Thursday 9 AM with a Catholic Funeral Mass following in Sts. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Tarentum with the Rev. Wesley Mash, officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Our Lady of Hope Cemetery, Frazer Township.
