Richard Lee Pittman, Sr. was born April 21, 1946 and passed peacefully into eternity June 25, 2024 following a brief and unexpected medical event. He is preceded in death by his father Grant Pittman, his mother and step-father Dorothy (Morrow) Gillespie and Robert Gillespie, and sisters Wilma “Dolly” Wagner and Helen Pittman, and his brother Grant “Buck” Pittman. Richard was a simple man who loved the simple things in life. He loved being outdoors; hunting, fishing, and even yard work. He took meticulous care of his home and land and could often be found tinkering in the shed. He could repair nearly anything which needed it. He kept his workspaces neat, he had a place for every nut and bolt and a tool for every task. Richard took early retirement from the welding industry in 2011 so that he could do the things he loved most. Richard was a resident of Fawn Township and for years served faithfully as a volunteer fireman. He took pride in serving his community and loved his neighbors as friends. Richard was a faithful member of the Guardian Angels Parrish, Natrona Heights.
Richard is survived by the love of his life, JoAnn (Boris) Pittman, whom he loved faithfully every day for nearly 56 years and 3 amazing children, Richard (Carol) Pittman, Jr., David (Christy) Pittman, and Cheryl (Christian) McElheny. Richard left a deep legacy of love and faithfulness for his family and he was lovingly known as “Pappy” to his grandchildren and was so very proud of them and their accomplishments; Danetta (Christopher) Corrado, David (Alex) Pittman, Rachel Pittman, and Grant Pittman. And Step-grandchildren, Heather (John) Kuzmirek, Gary (Kerry) Watterson, and Jamie (Jason) Schramm. And he had recently been promoted to Great Grand Pappy by the 3 littles; Kayden, Kamrynn, and Damien Pittman. Richard is also survived by a brother, Wayne (Debbie) Pittman, brothers-in-law, John Boris and Paul (Elaine) Boris, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
Richard loved to laugh and loved when others laughed with him. The laughter in his smile will be sorely missed by those who loved him best.
