Richard (Rick) Winter, 68 of West Deer Township, passed away unexpectedly, February 6th 2023 at his home with his wife by his side. He was born December 28, 1954 in Pittsburgh to the late Herbert C. and Eleanor (Lea) Winter. Rick was a 1972 graduate of Deer Lakes High School. He then embarked on a career of construction, retiring as a Union Glazier. It would be hard to find a building in Pittsburgh he didn’t have a hand in. Rick for the past many years could be seen at Bochek Auto Body, Harmar Township, working as the general carpenter, fix-it repairman. He was president of the Deer Lakes Youth Soccer Association for a number of years, as well as coaching his kids’ teams for over 15 years. Known for his sarcastic wit, his love of World news and history, the Penguins, his many dogs, adventures with his children, laughing over morning coffee with his wife and especially spending time with his beloved grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years Denise (Stepp) Winter; his children Jessica (Dan) Winter-Franklin of Pittsburgh, Richard Winter Jr of West Deer, and Sarah Winter of West Deer; his grandchildren Lillian and Maddy of West Deer and his siblings Patty (Dennis) Martinez of West Deer, Debbie (Rocky) Hoffman of Sarver, and David Winter of East Deer.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 5-7 pm in the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer Township, where services will be conducted at 7 pm with the Rev. James C. Ramsey, officiating. Burial will be private.
