Rita Marie Nwranski, 70, of East Deer Twp. passed away following surgery at UPMC St. Margaret, where she was surrounded by her family. She was born on February 23, 1953 to the late John and Ann (Kuchta) Dolinich. She was born and raised in East Deer. Rita graduated from Deer Lakes High School as a member of the Class of 1971. She attended both Penn State University and the University of Pittsburgh, graduating from Pitt in 1975. Her career was focused on banking and she retired from First National Bank as Head Bank Teller. Rita was a kind face and helper known throughout the community. As an active member of Sts. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, she participated in church council, baking fundraisers, and teaching Sunday School for many years. Rita was a happy and active grandmother, spouse, and mother. Her hobbies included spending time at her camp, cooking for family and friends, and touring art fairs and craft shows with her sister and sisters-in-law. Many of her evenings included watching and playing Jeopardy with her children. Rita was smart, funny, and full of trivia knowledge.
She is survived by her husband John R. Nwranski of 46 years, her daughter Sarah Stevenson and grandson Russell Stevenson of Burrell, a son Tim Nwranski of Creighton, and her sister Monica Pagano of South Park.
Family and friends will be welcome Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 at SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer, a Parastas service will begin at 6 pm. A Panachida service will begin at 9:15 am at the funeral home on Thursday July 20, with a Divine Liturgy of Christian Burial to follow at 10 am in Sts. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church Tarentum. Memorial Contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice in Rita’s name.
