Scott M. Best

Scott M. Best, 56 of West Deer Township, died Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at UPMC St. Margaret, Pittsburgh after a long struggle with many health challenges. He was born July 9, 1967 in Pittsburgh to the late John N. “Jack” and Ruth A. (Antoszyk) Best. Scotty grew up in West Deer, graduating from Deer Lakes High School in 1985. After high school he attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania, studying computer science. Unfortunately, his health declined to the point that he was unable to finish his degree. He loved playing video games, watching sports, traveling to Florida in the winters, touring Civil War battlefields, and Civil War history. His family would like to extend a great thank you to all the Brightstar caregivers, who truly were like family to Scott, as well as his neighbor Cheryl, who has supported him over the years and more often since the passing of his Mom and Dad.

Survivors include his brother John N. (Cynthia) Best, of Baden and his niece Lillian Best of Baden.

At Scott’s request, all services were private. He was privately laid to rest with his parents in Allegheny County Memorial Park, McCandless Township. Arrangements were entrusted to the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer Township.
