Thomas Peter Dineff, 64, of West Deer Township, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2024 at his sister’s home in Houston, Texas after almost a yearlong battle with AML leukemia. Born May 13, 1960 in Pittsburgh, PA, Tom or TP as his sister called him, lived in West Deer most of his life. He ran a custard ice cream shop out of his parents’ bakery and pizza shop for many years. As well, being a jack of all trades, he was an excellent mechanic. Tom was a 1978 graduate of Deer Lakes High School and grew up attending East Union Presbyterian Church. Tom was well known and well liked in the West Deer community. In addition to the custard ice cream shop, he delivered the Pittsburgh Post Gazette and Valley Daily newspapers via a motor route for many years before embarking on his mechanic’s career full-time, and was a landlord for the West Deer Magistrate and JEM Seal Co. Tom loved working on motor vehicles but especially Ford Ranger trucks and Mercury Marquis cars, playing games on his phone, visiting with his friends, sister, niece, great-niece and Dineff cousins, and going to the movies and eating out with his friend Carol. Tom had a heart of gold and was always there to help a friend and would give you the shirt off his back.
Survivors include his sister Suzanne Mailes-Dineff (Mark Mailes) of Houston, TX; his niece Heather Hewitt Reagan (Corey) and her daughter Riley of Jeanette, PA; and his sister Joy Dineff Morian (Bob) and her son and daughter, Michael and Monica and their children.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Sophia Dineff; his sister, Carol Dineff Hewitt; his nephew, Matthew Hewitt; and brother-in-law Gary Hewitt.
Also, a special thanks to the following for all the love and support you provided to Tom during his illness: Friends: Fred Fischer, Larry and Keith Galbraith, Carol Dillard, Kathy and Wayne Gillam, Mitch Slais, and Jim Smullin. Family: Lisa, Mark and Jessica Harby, Heather, Corey and Riley Reagan, and Dave and Jan Dineff.
At the family’s request all services, viewing and burial were private. Local arrangements were entrusted to the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer.
