Alex Shelestak, Jr.

Alex Shelestak, Jr. 85 of Dorseyville, Indiana Township, died March 10, 2017 at home with his family by his side. He was born December 25, 1931 in Bairdford, West Deer Township to the late Alex and Mary (Pakosh) Shelestak, Sr. Alex grew up in Bairdford attending St. Michaels R.O. Church, Curtisville. Alex served his country during the Korean War as an Army PFC, receiving the Presidential Unit Citation, the Korean Service Medal with six Bronze Camp Stars. After returning from the service he worked for over 34 years at Railway Maintenance as a maintenance worker. He enjoyed caring for his home and for him there was no job or task he could not do, he especially loved his family and spending time with them.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years Shirley A. (Miller) Shelestak his sons Dennis (Tracey) Shelestak of Bairdford, David (Debbie) Shelestak of Blawnox, Donald (Debra) Shelestak of Waynesburg and Alex (Marcie) Shelestak, III of Dorseyville, twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by all of his siblings including his five brothers; Joseph, John, Steve, Nicholas and Michael Shelestak and his six sisters; Anna Dunlap, Mary Vojtko, Alice Dobson, Helen Paskorz, Nancy Shelestak and Martha Hood.

Family will receive friends Monday 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm in the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer, where funeral services will be conducted Tuesday 10 am with the Rev.
