George Cingle, Jr Obituary

George Cingle, Jr. 88 of Landisville, PA formerly of West Deer Township, PA died Wednesday February 21, 2024 at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy, with his loving family by his side.  He was born September 20, 1935 in Moween, Westmoreland Co. to the late George and Mary (Zimbo) Cingle, Sr.  George grew up in Indianola, PA graduating from West Deer High School in 1953.  He graduated from Lafayette College with a B.S. in Civil Engineering and was in ROTC while there.  He served his country as a member of the U.S. Army, and with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, from which he retired after 37 years.  He was a member of Mary Mother of the Church Parish, Mount Joy, PA for over 3 years, and a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Parish (Transfiguration Church), West Deer for more than 66 years.  George was a lector for over 60 years, served as an alter server for funeral masses, and was a member of the holiday decorating committee for Transfiguration Church with his wife, Terry.  He served as the first President of Parent Group for Transfiguration School and worked at the spaghetti dinners and fish fries.  He helped transition the fish fries to St. Victor Roman Catholic Church and spent many hours helping with every aspect including the weekly bun run and various kitchen tasks. George was an active member of the Knights of Columbus #5501’s weekly bingo, Night of the Races, and many other activities.  George loved volunteering, working in his garden, and road trips to anywhere and everywhere.  Most importantly, he loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of over 66 years Thresa “Terry” (Hollo) Cingle, his children George (Patricia) Cingle III of Estero, FL, Thresa Cingle Lambert of Broomfield, CO, Deacon Joseph (Pamela) Cingle of Landisville, PA and his grandchildren Brad Lambert and Katie Lambert both of CA, and Hayli Jo (Cheyenne) Cingle of OH, brother Kenneth of IA and brother-in-law Edward (Susan) Hollo of PA.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Judy Pajewski, his in-laws Joseph and Jennie Hollo, his brother-in-law Raymond Hollo and his sister-in-law Joan Bucha.

All are welcome to a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday February 29 at 10am at Our Lady of the Lakes Parish, Transfiguration Church, Russellton with the Rev. James P. Holland, officiating.  He will be buried with full military honors at Lakewood Memorial Gardens, Indiana Township.  A Memorial Mass is also being held at Mary Mother of the Church, Mount Joy on Saturday February 24th at 1pm.  Arrangements are under the care of the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer Township.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to the OLLP CCD Program, PO Box 149, Bairdford, PA 15006 or the Mary Mother of the Church FIRE Program, 625 Union School Rd, Mount Joy, PA 17552.  View obituary and leave condolences at www.siwicki-yanickofh.com/obituary/George-CingleJr
