James Palmer Obituary

James R. Palmer, 68 of Washington Township, formerly of West Deer Township, died Tuesday March 19, 2024 at UPMC East with his loving wife by his side. He was born January 27, 1956 in Pittsburgh to the late William W. and N. Grace (Caldwell) Palmer. Jim grew up in West Deer graduating from Deer Lakes High School in 1974. He then went on to higher education receiving his associate degree in Orthotics and Prosthetics from Harmarville Training Institute, Fox Chapel. He then went to work at the National Rehabilitation Hospital in Washington D.C. and continued advanced studies in Orthotics and Prosthetics at the University of Illinois, Chicago, IL. More recently Jim worked as a car salesman for Nick Chevrolet, Tarentum. He enjoyed singing Karaoke, and loved traveling to Conneaut Lake.

Survivors include his wife of 6 years Susan A. (Elgin) Palmer, his step-children Nicholas and Ashley, 9 grandchildren, his sister Susan G. (Gregg) Oliver of West Deer, his nephews Alex and Mark, and his best friend Norman L. Switzer of Washington Township.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brother W. Wesley Palmer.

At Jim’s request all viewing, services and burial will be private. Arrangements were entrusted to the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer Township.
