Joyce E. (Taylor) Leggens, 93 of Cheswick, formerly of Curtisville, West Deer Twp., died April 26, 2024 at UPMC Mercy, Pittsburgh. She was born February 27, 1931 in Connellsville to the late Henry R. and Beulah A. (Crawford) Taylor and had lived in Curtisville most of her life. She was a member of the Deer Lakes Community Church of the Nazarene, Curtisville. Joyce was a 1949 graduate of West Deer High School. She worked as a custodian for PPG Industries for over 20 years. Joyce was very active in her church activities, enjoyed golfing, and got her first hole in one at the age of 75, watching and playing Jeopardy, watching nature especially the birds and squirrels, baking and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her children Joseph W. (Deborah) Leggens, Jr. of Delmont and Laurie J. (Timothy) Miller of Cheswick, her grandchildren, Ian (Melanie) Leggens, Jillian (Matthew) Martinez, Scott H. Leggens, Timothy J. Miller and Mary (Jeffrey) Wells, great-grandchildren, Jesse Planert, Mason Leggens and Solana Bea Martinez, Jackson Wells, Grayson Wells, Evelyn Wells and Olivia Wells and her golfing buddy & longtime friend Melvin Shook of Springdale.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Joseph W. Leggens, Sr. May 26, 2012 and her brother Clifford Taylor.
Family will receive friends Monday 2-4 pm & 6-8 pm in the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer Twp., where a funeral service will be conducted Tuesday 10 am, with the Rev. Tim Golden, officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Deer Creek Cemetery, Harmar Twp.
