Ruth E. (Starr) Stepp, 85 of Russellton, West Deer Township, died November 15, 2016 with her family by her side. She has lived in West Deer for the past sixty-two years. Born December 8, 1930 in Pittsburgh to the late George T. and Hazel M. (Stephens) Starr. She was a 1948 graduate of Verona High School and attended the New Kensington School of Business in 1981 for certification as a Medical Stenographer. Ruth was a ceramic teacher and owner of Ruth's Ceramics for over 35 years. She loved teaching ceramics and had up to 60 students/friends weekly at the peak of her business. She was a member of the West Deer Travels Club and TOPS club in Creighton. She enjoyed painting ceramics, traveling, reading, football, and especially spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include her children William J. (Susan) Stepp of Fort Lauderdale FL, Denise E. (Richard) Winter of West Deer, Bruce K. Stepp of West Deer, five grandchildren Jamie and Billy Stepp, Jessica Winter-Franklin, Richard S. Winter, Jr. and Sarah Winter, and two great-grandchildren, William Stepp IV and Lillian Grace Parades, and her sister Hazel (Tootie) Maiolo of Fla.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her granddaughter Jennifer Stepp, her sister Helen Vinansky and her brothers Joseph Pollock and Wesley Starr.
Friends will be received Sunday from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm in the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer, where a funeral service will be conducted Sunday 8 pm with the Rev.
