Martin C. "Sonny" Gentile

Martin C. “Sonny” Gentile, 75 of Russellton, West Deer Township died Wednesday October 25, 2017 with his family by his side. He was born September 26, 1942 in West Deer to the late Peter P. and Rose M. (Grovanz) Gentile. Sonny grew up in Russellton and graduated from West Deer High School in 1960. He worked over 25 years for the Union Railroad as a Brakeman. He was a member of Transfiguration R.C. Church, Russellton and was a life member of the Owl’s Club where he was on the euchre team. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed watching all Pittsburgh sports, listening to Italian music, photography and spending time in the company of his family and many friends.

Survivors include his children Greg (Cris) Gentile of Lower Burrell, Jeffrey Gentile of Russellton, JoLee (Jeff) Snyder of Frazer and Dan (Jackie) Picone of Bonneau, SC, 8 grandsons Joey, Chris Gentile of Lower Burrell, Jesse, Jack, Jake and Jude Gentile of Murrysville, and Corey Snyder of New Kensington and Jason Snyder of Boston, MA, his sisters Sandra (Ken) Slimick of Curtisville and Jean Gentile of Pittsburgh.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his grandson Gregory Picone.

At Sonny’s request all viewing, services and burial were private.
