Regina M. (Scanlon) Miller, 99 of Zelienople, formerly of West Deer, died Sunday December 31, 2017. She lived in West Deer Township most of her life, and has lived at the Passavant Retirement Community for the past seven years. She was born July 6, 1918 in Trafford, PA to the late Daniel and Regina M. (Trakofler) Scanlon. In her early years, Regina worked as a staff member for the state senate in Harrisburg, and during WWII worked at Westinghouse as an engineer, reading blueprints. In subsequent years, she was a secretary, teacher’s aide and homemaker. She was a member of St. Victor R.C. Church, in Bairdford. Her greatest love was her family, and in return, they loved her to the moon and back.
Survivors include her daughters Carolyn (Keith) Ruby of Centreville, VA, Joanne (Jerry) Osele of Zelienople, Dorothy (John) Francis of Cranberry Township and Diane (Douglas) McCausland of West Deer, 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and her brothers Charles (Dolores) Scanlon of San Jose, CA, and H. James Scanlon of Latrobe.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband John F. Miller, who died on November 7, 1992 and her brothers Daniel, Robert, George and Walter Scanlon.
Regina’s family would like to thank the staff of the Passavant Retirement Community for taking such wonderful, loving care of her.
Family will receive friends Thursday from 4-8 PM in the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer where parting prayers will be conducted Friday 9:30 AM with the funeral mass following in St. Victor R.C. Church, Bairdford, West Deer, with the Rev. Charles Speicher, officiating. She will be laid to rest with her husband in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Sharpsburg.
